Specialist Subjects

At Tridha, images and ideas emerge from the pages of books to become experiences in our students’ lives. Every subject comes alive within and beyond the classroom to create unparalleled immersive learning journeys.

We believe that hands-on, tactile learning is indispensable to a well-rounded education. It helps young children develop motor skills and students of all ages to fully engage with topics and understand them more deeply.

Subjects considered extracurriculars in other educational systems are vital parts of the Waldorf curriculum. Every year, we offer specialist subjects appropriate to students’ development stages.

Music

Singing is an important part of the Tridha experience from Kindergarten through to Grade 12. Immersed in a culture that values the arts deeply, our students develop discipline, self-reflection and expression. They begin to appreciate the role of music in building and nurturing community.

In Grades 1 to 5, Tridha students play the recorder. In Grade 6, they progress to the Alto and Tenor. In higher grades, we encourage students to pick up percussion and string instruments. The daily Morning Circle also helps students hone their musical ability – the Tridha community starts each day together, sharing music from diverse periods, styles and cultures.

Fine Arts and Handwork

Creating art involves keen observation, a strong aesthetic sense and the confidence to express oneself. Qualities that make Tridha students stand out among their peers.

At Tridha, children develop dexterity through crocheting, knitting, sewing, woodwork and working with clay and beeswax. They also paint, draw and create geometric forms. These activities allow students to appreciate the value of the arts in developing their creativity and critical thinking skills.

Eurythmy

Eurythmy, or visible music – an art developed by Rudolf Steiner and his wife in the early 20th century to bring together movement and mindful expression. Through the practice of eurythmy, students translate the dynamic elements of music and speech – sounds, phrases and rhythms – into movement and gesture.

The art and practice of eurythmy teaches children to listen carefully and express what they hear through appropriate movement. It helps them connect with themselves and share moments of joy with their peers. Based on narrative and play, the practice helps students challenge their body coordination, spatial orientation, social cooperation and presence of mind.

Gardening

Tridha students are distinguished by their strong sense of responsibility towards the environment and society. Our gardening program plays an important role in developing this consciousness.

Gardening at Tridha begins in Grade 1 and stays with students until Grade 6. This makes them sensitive to the rhythms of nature. They connect with the natural world and develop a deeper appreciation for the interdependence of different life forms. Their gardening work aids students’ learning of botany, environmental science, sustainability and the ever-important qualities of patience and collaboration.

Dance

The expressive practice of eurythmy is complemented by an engagement with classical and folk dances. Through their school years, Tridha students learn different dance forms from across and beyond our country.

Dance lessons at Tridha play a dual role. They help students orient themselves in space, express themselves through forms beyond the written word, and develop physical fitness. Additionally, folk and classical forms act as windows to diverse cultures and traditions. Through joy and play, they help students engage with their community and become culturally aware.

Sports

Tridha offers a diverse specialist Sports program from Class 1 to Class 12. From the three-fold perspective, the Sports curriculum can be defined as:
Physical development [Willing]
Social development [Feeling]
Self-development [Thinking]

Our rich sports curriculum grows with students from Grade 1 through to Grade 12. It helps them develop a sense of balance, grace and ease in their bodies that translates into confidence and an appreciation for teamwork in all aspects of their lives.

We offer a diverse and age-appropriate sports program from kindergarten to grade 12. Students learn individual skills and team sports like volleyball, basketball and handball. They are also given the opportunity to participate in a version of the Ancient Greek Olympics with students from other Waldorf schools across Mumbai.

Rise of the Athletes. Our high school students participate in a sports event, showcasing their athletic skills across various competitions.
