Developmental Stage
Students seek and welcome clarity of explanation. They are encouraged to show interest in the world around them and acquire knowledge and understanding through independent gathering of information. This is also a time when the world seems to present in emotional shades of black and white. Inner balance, structure in their thinking and the ability to make logical, casual deductions based on observation and understanding are developed through the various subjects undertaken.
In grade 10 the students sharpen their faculties of comparison, discrimination and discernment. During this year, students are likely more grounded and better suited to ask ‘how?’ They discover that issues and ideas need to be explored from many perspectives before judgements can be made.
Curriculum
As the students move to grades 9 and 10, there will be further developments in the quantity and depth of subjects, in alignment with the developing world and the ever-growing needs of our young adults. As we work on making our students global citizens while retaining their deep-rooted Indianness, they need to learn about their own country and culture. To inculcate love and respect for the Indian culture, learning of regional languages will always be emphasised.
To become active global citizens, we need to be aware of the scorching national and global issues. Therefore, we offer History as a subject – covering mostly European history; and, we arrange regular lectures, and discussions with prominent personalities known in their own fields – covering mostly Indian issues and cultural aspects. The emphasis is on developing the ability to think critically about a range of issues where there are more points of view than any singular outlook.
Special blocks and class trips are integral to Tridha’s curriculum, aimed at reinforcing classroom learning, community building, and service. One notable trip is the Leh-Ladakh excursion. It’s an immersive experience in nature, among the towering mountains, the clear gurgling streams and the scant vegetation. There is time to let the beauty of the cold desert envelope you as you tread on, with no contact with the outside world, with only a few friends and nature for company, with minimal provisions, not knowing where you will camp next. Being away from the comforts of home may seem daunting at first, but it brings every student face to face with a much stronger self. Stronger physically, more adaptable, willing to embrace and accept the unknown and have gratitude for every moment.
Right through grade 9 and grade 10, we follow the IGCSE program, without losing focus on the humane development of our students. The Rudolf Steiner vision continues to guide our curriculum and care for the students. Our style and approach brought to the students during the Primary years – subjects introduced through blocks, artistic inclusion and aesthetic evolution, gather pace and depth. We encourage students to express themselves, challenge their thoughts and stimulate their imagination through our unique presentations and classroom management.
Our educational vision permeates all the subjects. Our unique blocks like History of Art, History and Art, and the Leh-Ladakh trip all emphasise our commitment to the development of skills and much more. We celebrate teenage hood by providing the students with what they essentially need: a sense of belonging that is personal and acute. These subjects lead students to reflect and undertake further research into specialised realms that help them understand human development.
We will be offering the following subjects in grades 9 and 10.
